International Standards for Mentoring and Coaching Programmes (ISMCP)

ISMCP How to Apply

Three steps to benchmark your organisation with ISMCP

Being an ISMCP-holder means that you have developed a programme for coaching and mentoring within your organisation that is aligned with your business and helps your people excel. It means that you have been able to evidence, or develop and adapt, your current activity to meet the challenging standards. Going through the ISMCP benchmarking self-assessment framework allows you to challenge what you do, celebrate your successes, and get you on a good path for additional development as needed.

“Accrediting our programme with EMCC Global gave us the opportunity to benchmark our programme against quality standards and other programmes. We were able to learn and improve our programme.” – Alan Lefebvre, coordinator of Medicins Sans Frontiers mentoring and coaching hub

The support and process from EMCC Global is easy to follow, and can be summarised in three steps.

  1. Commit to the standards and the ISMCP framework. There is no cost associated with this, organisations simply need to decide to make a start, and declare this to [email protected]
  2. Accredit your stakeholder briefing and training with an EMCC Global Quality Award (EQA) Bespoke Programme. This accreditation fee starts at just €300 and includes free mentoring support from the EMCC Global Accreditation Team. The stakeholder briefing and training ensures:
    • Stakeholders understand the concept of mentoring and/or coaching and their respective roles
    • Participants are aware of the knowledge, skills and behaviours they need to apply in their roles as mentors/coaches and mentees/coachees and they have the opportunity to identify skills gaps
    • Learning support is available throughout the participants’ involvement in the programme
    • Training and briefing take into account the context and purpose of the programme, balancing the need for core skills and knowledge against the need for flexibility in the manner and timing of delivery.
  3. Building on the bespoke EQA, organisations would complete the full organisational self-assessment at their own pace, supported by the EMCC Global Accreditation Team using the ISMCP framework.

“The process of applying for the ISMCP accreditation allowed us to think differently about capturing our learning. During each step of the process, we got relevant and practical advice from senior EMCC Global representatives, and rapid answers to our questions. It felt very safe.” – Alan Lefebvre, coordinator of Medicins Sans Frontiers mentoring and coaching hub
